Growing up Indian-American meant moving between two food worlds.
This is how I turned that in-between into a jar.

At home, there was my mom's Indian cooking β comforting, layered, and filled with the flavors that shaped the way I eat. Outside the house, there was pizza after soccer practice, Chinese takeout, burgers with friends, sandwiches, and whatever new cuisine I could convince my family to try next.
I loved both.

Over time, I started to realize those worlds did not need to stay separate. Indian spices made eggs better. They made sandwiches better. They made noodles, pasta, rice, and late-night meals more exciting.
When I left for college, that curiosity became more practical. I missed the flavors I grew up with, but I did not always have the time, ingredients, or energy to cook an entire Indian meal from scratch.
Then I discovered chili crisp. One spoonful could transform eggs, rice, noodles, or vegetables. It was fast, bold, and made everyday food taste like something more.

βWhy isn't there an Indian version of this?β
One day, while making eggs and rice with my co-founder, Eli, we finally decided to answer that question.
We did not want to make an Indian-inspired sauce or another traditional pickle. We wanted to create a real Indian chili crisp β something with the warmth, depth, aroma, and layered flavor of the masalas I grew up eating.
We began with a family spice blend passed down through three generations. In my home, it was simply called βthe masala.β It was the foundation of weeknight dinners, celebrations, comfort food, and nearly everything in between.
Then the testing began.
Our apartments became test kitchens. Some batches were too spicy. Some had the right aroma but lacked depth. Some had great crunch but did not feel balanced. With every round, we moved closer to something that felt unmistakably Indian while still working on the foods we ate every day.

Taste it for yourself
Three generations of masala, one spoon that makes everything better.

We learned from chefs, tested new ideas, and refined every detail until we found it: a chili crisp with real warmth, satisfying crunch, balanced heat, and the kind of flavor that makes you immediately go back for another bite. That became YoAmma Indian Chili Crisp.
It is the product I wish I had in college β a shortcut to the flavors of home, made for the way we eat now.
Put it on eggs before class, rice after a long day, noodles, sandwiches, pizza, roasted vegetables, dumplings, or anything that could use a little more life.
